I would turn it around and say the opposite; it is unethical to place amalgam in any human being, when a fully adequate material exist (fully functional composites have existed for nearly 20 years). Only dentist who has been trained in and practise "the safe removal procedure" stated by IAOMT should be allowed to drill out amalgam. I am worried about a growing fetus, and the mothers mercury load. If you removed amalgams before having the baby, I think it would help prevent accumulation in the fetus, as the old mercury in the mothers tissues would not spread, but new mercury sources could like amalgam sources and certain types of fish etc...does this make sense?
